If you want to point to Explora or Consumer Health or any of the specific databases, call ODL at 405-522-3505 and get help with the URL. Remember EBSCO has Consumer Reports, their Buying Guide, and so much more – so point your patrons to Digital Prairie resources.
Digital Prairie was made possible by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Oklahoma Department of Libraries.
Searchasaurus, Kids Search and Student Research Center will be extinct July 1 and no longer available to your users. If your library website includes direct links to any or all of the three interfaces, you will want to remove them before the end of next week. If your users access EBSCO resources from your Select Services screen, the icons for these interfaces will disappear automatically.
If your library is registered for EBSCO and IP addresses are current, clicking on these will open to the new Explora search boxes: Explora Elementary Student Research, Explora Middle School Student Research, Explora Educator’s Edition, and Explora Public Library/High School Search. Take a look at the Explora User Guide, Explora Tutorial and promotion tools. Try Consumer Reports Magazine and explore the Buying Guide in Explora…
Print out these bookmarks to promote the Digital Prairie databases! Each bookmark has a write-in username and password field, allowing you to easily share that information with your patrons. EBSCOhost Bookmark for Schools (pdf), EBSCOhost Bookmark for Public Libraries (pdf), and Britannica School Bookmark for Schools and Public Libraries (pdf).
Have questions? Call ODL at 405-522-3505 and ask for Arlene. For those with EBSCOadmin accounts, here are the directions to enable your Explora interface.
Some of you may have already heard the news about Explora, EBSCO’s new interface for schools and public libraries. Explora is available now because EBSCO worked with ODL to add it to your account. If you have problems, call Ebsco support at 1-800-758-5995. If you haven’t set up your access to Ebsco yet, fill out this form and an Ebsco representative will contact you to complete the process. Be sure to state that you want remote access in the comments field.
Explora will take the place of Ebsco’s children’s interfaces- Searchasaurus, Kids Search, and Student Research Center, which will retire in January 2016. Please contact us if you have any questions about Explora or the retirement of Searchasaurus, Kids Search, and Student Research Center.
